Awka, Anambra state – Hundreds of voters in Anambra state, Nigeria’s south-east, will come out to cast their vote in the November 2025 governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) disclosed that 2,802,790 registered voters are eligible to participate in the election on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

The election is ongoing, but the Presiding Officer is complaining of non-adherence of the voters to instructions.
Then, it was discovered that an APGA chieftain came to polling unit 003 wooing voters with a reward of N10,000 each and it was learnt from an angry citizen that the security personnel were bribed to allow them operate.
To confirm the claim, the police personnel there issued a stern warning not to capture them. It got to the point that an observer’s phone was collected and scrutinised by one of the security officials.
While in polling unit 4, both APGA and APC are having a tug of war on who will win more voters to its side as each offered N10,000 bribes.

As of the time of this update, at PU 008 and 007, Ward 8, the electoral process is proceeding smoothly as voters are casting their votes.
Security checks are tight.
However, it was observed that APGA is buying votes clandestinely. The agents are saying they will give those who vote for them N20,000.
Moreover, people are hanging around to find out who the highest bidder is.

At Peter Obi’s Polling Unit (PU), some people came and said some voters should not be voting in this PU because they did not vote here during the last election in 2021. They demanded that those voters should not be attended to.
Obi, a presidential hopeful, is a former governor of Anambra state.
The Presiding Officers (POs) claimed they were given only one copy of the voter register and, as such, have no other copy to paste for people to check for their names.
Unfortunately, there is no security to help maintain calm.

Also, a verbal fight erupted over the issue of tags as a means of identification because some party agents are not putting on any and are claiming to be agents, disrupting the voting rules.

Some people who applied as ad hoc staff but were unfortunately not picked are seen clustered around the compound. They were expressing their frustrations over spending their time, transportation and attending the training only to find out that they were not hired. Some wished that it would have been better if INEC had paid for their transportation costs during the training and also released their names before today, Saturday, November 8.

NSCDC assures voters of safety ahead of Anambra gov pollThe Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has said it will deploy 350 personnel for the governorship election in Anambra.
As reported by The Punch, the NSCDC assured residents of maximum security and reaffirmed its mandate to protect critical national assets and infrastructure throughout the electoral process.
The Commandant General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Audi, made this known in a statement released by the NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, on Friday, November 7.
