Liverpool can take a huge step towards the Premier League title by beating West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds have established an 11-point lead at the top of the standings but missed out on the chance to extend their advantage last time out as they were beaten 3-2 by Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Regardless of that defeat, Arne Slot’s side remain firm favourites for the title this term and a victory over the Hammers would edge them even closer to just a second Premier League title in the club’s history.
Away from the action, it appears that Liverpool fancy their chances of beating one of their fiercest rivals to the signing of a Bundesliga star.
As reported by CaughtOffside, Liverpool feel confident about their chances of beating Manchester City in the race to sign RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons.
Simons has attracted interest from Premier League clubs
The report claims that the two Premier League giants are both interested in the Netherlands international, who is enjoying a fine season in Germany.
Simons, 21, joined Leipzig on loan from French giants Paris Saint-Germain in 2023 and made the switch to Germany permanent two years later.
In total the attacking midfielder – who can also play on the wing – has now played 71 times for Leipzig, scoring 18 goals and registering 21 assists.
It is claimed that Liverpool feel they may hold an advantage in the race for the young attacker, as there are already several Dutch players in their squad, managed by Dutchman Slot.
Simons is under contract until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, but the report claims that Leipzig could be willing to allow the player to leave the club for a fee of around £60 million this summer.
Liverpool’s interest in Simons comes amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of Luis Diaz.
