Lyft’s new office is set to be located within the city’s financial district.
Lyft, the California-based rideshare company, is set to open its first office in Toronto in 2026.
According to the press release, the new headquarters will be situated within Toronto’s financial district and will serve as the “eventual home base” for “several hundred” team members. The office will also serve as the company’s second major tech hub, alongside its headquarters in San Francisco.
Lyft states that this investment in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) strengthens the company’s commitment to the Canadian market, aiming to attract new talent to its rideshare service. Lyft has also noted that the company has seen a fair share of success within its global growth strategy, with rides increasing by over 20 per cent year over year in 2025.
Lyft is no stranger to Canada, offering rides in Toronto since 2017 and having teams located in Longueuil and Montreal, Quebec. Additionally, the rideshare giant is the tech responsible for Bikeshare Toronto and other bikeshare systems in Quebec.
With this announcement, Lyft is also launching new partnerships with both Nonnina’s Table and Daily Bread Food Bank, two local charities dedicated to addressing food scarcity and supporting individuals in need within the GTA. Lyft also noted the partnership with The King’s Trust to provide youth in Toronto with access to job training, interviews, networking, and transportation to get to work.
Additionally, Lyft provides opportunities for riders to contribute to their total for the ride through the Round Up & Donate program, where riders can choose to donate to Food Banks Canada, YMCA of Canada, The Canadian Red Cross, or the True Patriot Love Foundation.
Alongside this new Toronto Office, Lyft also has offices in various cities across North America and Europe.
