Man United step up interest in England midfielder

Manchester United travel to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday. 

The Red Devils have won each of their past three games in the competition, with victory against Brighton and Hove Albion last time out lifting Ruben Amorim’s side up to sixth place in the top flight table.

United will hope to continue their impressive run against a Forest side that currently sit 18th in the top flight standings.

Now, it appears that Saturday’s match will give Man United the opportunity to watch one of their transfer targets in action.

As per CaughtOffside, the Red Devils are ready to step up their interest in Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.

It is claimed that the Manchester giants are extremely interested in the midfielder, who has impressed since joining Forest from Newcastle United in 2024.

Anderson, 22, has played more than 50 times for Forest across all competitions, and was handed his international debut for England in September.

Manchester City, Chelsea, and Newcastle United are also all said to be in the race to sign the midfielder, who is under contract at The City Ground until the end of the 2028/29 season.

The report claims that Forest – who are understandably reluctant to allow the player to depart – will demand a fee as high as £70 million for the player.

United were on the hunt for a new midfielder over the summer, with veteran Casemiro facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are also said to be searching for an upgrade on Manuel Ugarte, who has struggled to convince since joining the club.

Over the summer, United were interested in Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba, but their continued search for a new midfielder has lead them to identify Anderson as a possible target.
