Over the weekend, Road 2 Recovery posted the following update:
“@browniemx, a 53-year-old veteran motocross racer from Bristol, TN, is currently recovering from multiple serious injuries sustained during a high speed crash on 6/3
‘While practicing with my factory riders, I suffered a high-speed crash on the second-to-last lap. As I approached a rut, my front tire entered & followed the line, but the rear tire failed to follow through, causing the bike to fishtail violently. This sudden loss of control resulted in me being ejected over the handles at high velocity. I was launched forward & landed head-first, absorbing the full impact with my head & upper body’
Mike was taken to a nearby facility, where Jeremy, his team manager, immediately stepped in to help. He transported Mike to the ER for urgent evaluation, where imaging & neurological tests revealed multiple critical injuries requiring surgical intervention & ongoing rehab.
At Piedmont Newnan Hospital, imaging revealed a concussion, broken neck, mini stroke (TIA), and a swollen artery caused by bone trauma, all requiring immediate attention.
Brown underwent cervical spine surgery on 6/5, during which a screw was placed on his C1 vertebra, and metal plates were installed on C5 & C7. He’s currently recovering but continues to experience neurological & vascular complications.
He’s scheduled to transfer to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA, where he’ll begin intensive rehab. While long-term recovery will depend on neurological & physical therapy progress, doctors remain cautiously optimistic.
‘I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to my entire Triumph Racing team for their unwavering support from day one. I’m especially grateful to my manager, Jeremy, for standing by my side & ensuring that every medical decision was handled swiftly and with care. I owe a huge thank you to Dr. Ifeanyi N. Nzegwu for the successful surgery and outstanding care. I’m truly grateful for his attention, support & expertise every step of the way. To my family and friends—thank you for your constant love, strength, and encouragement during this difficult time. Your support means everything.’

On Monday, Road 2 Recovery posted the following update:
“Hello everyone,
I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you—for your prayers, kindness, and generous support on my Road 2 Recovery page. Your encouragement means the world to me.
I wanted to share a quick update on my progress. Recovering from this injury has been incredibly difficult, but I’m making small steps forward. I’m now able to walk, with a walker and someone by my side because I tend to lose my balance. My stability still isn’t great, and I’m dealing with ongoing unbalance and dizziness.
We’re still learning the full extent of my injuries, but I’ll continue to keep you updated as I learn more.
The good news is that tomorrow, I’ll be transferring to Shepherd Center Hospital in Atlanta to begin intensive therapy and rehabilitation. It’s a major step forward, and while I know the road ahead will be long and challenging, I’m committed to pushing through.
If you’re able and feel moved to support my recovery journey, you can do so at Road2Recovery.com or through the link in their bio.
Thank you again—from the bottom of my heart—for all your love, prayers, and support. I’m beyond grateful.
Sincerely,
Mike Brown”
Road 2 Recovery has posted the following update.
“Mike “Brownie” Brown Recovery Update – 6/23
Since arriving at the Shepherd Center on Tuesday, June 17, Mike has been fully immersed in a rigorous therapy schedule, receiving Occupational, Physical, and Speech-Language Pathology (OT/PT/SLP) therapy sessions each weekday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. His days are long and exhausting, but he’s showing steady progress with each one.
At this time, there’s still no set timeline for discharge. A care team meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 26, to assess Mike’s current status and plan the next steps in his recovery journey.
Mike continues to face several challenges. He remains unable to walk without assistance due to persistent balance issues. His vision has improved notably—though he still sees one and a half images when looking straight ahead, which therapists are closely monitoring. This past Saturday was a bright spot—his first noticeably good day—but new concerns around fluctuating blood pressure have emerged. Initial evaluations suggest it may stem from an inner ear issue, but further testing must wait until his neck has healed enough to allow for cervical movement.
Despite the obstacles, Mike remains determined, and the focus remains on making daily gains.
It’s a long and difficult road, but your support—through prayers, encouragement, and generosity—means the world.
If you’d like to help with Mike’s ongoing out-of-pocket medical expenses and therapy needs, you can do so at road2recovery.com or through the link in our bio.
Thank you for standing with Mike on this journey!”
