The head coach of Morocco, Walid Regragui has been reported by some media outlets as wanting to resign from his role as the national team manager.

There are several reports that his decision comes after a long run of competitive tournaments, including reaching the AFCON 2025 final (which Morocco lost 1–0 to Senegal) and managing the team through heavy expectations ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

There is no confirmed official resignation accepted yet by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). Some earlier rumours suggested he might offer his resignation, but Regragui had avoided directly confirming this on camera after the AFCON final.

Regragui has been Morocco’s coach since August 2022 and is widely credited with leading the Atlas Lions to historic success, including reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, a first for any African nation. There was public pressure and speculation about his future including comments he’d be willing to step down if Morocco didn’t win the tournament but nothing formal was announced at the time
