Defensive lineman Mustafa Johnson was a non-participant in practice with the Montreal Alouettes on Tuesday, as per the team’s official report, due to a shoulder injury he suffered against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Week 21.
The 26-year-old played seven regular-season games with the Alouettes this year after recovering from a knee that he suffered in 2024. He recorded nine defensive tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble, pushing veteran Shawn Oakman into a depth role.
The six-foot, 285-pound native of Aurora, Col. was named All-East Division in 2023 and has made 105 defensive tackles, 17 sacks, and one forced fumble over 48 career regular-season CFL games.
Other non-participants for Montreal included fullback David Dallaire (knee), linebacker Tyrell Richards (back), and defensive back Ciante Evans (knee). Offensive linemen Donny Ventrelli, who didn’t dress for last week’s regular-season finale, and Nick Callender, who started the game but didn’t finish, were both limited in practice.
Running backs Travis Theis and Sean Thomas-Erlington, who are currently on the six-game injured list, were both full participants in practice.
The Montreal Alouettes (10-8) will host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (10-8) in the East Semi-Final at Percival Molson Stadium on Saturday, November 1 with kickoff slated for 2:00 p.m. EDT. The two teams met at Princess Auto Stadium in the final week of the regular season as the Blue Bombers came away with a 19-10 victory.
The weather forecast in Montreal calls for a high of 8 degrees with rain. The game will be broadcast on TSN, RDS, and CTV in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 680 CJOB in Winnipeg and TSN 690 in Montreal.
