Governor Hope Uzodimma has cautioned that his successor may not necessarily share his religious or God-fearing values.
Addressing Owerri Zone leaders, he emphasized that the Imo Charter of Equity is only a guiding principle for fair power rotation, not an automatic ticket, insisting the next governor must emerge through a transparent democratic process.
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has warned that his successor may not share his religious values or God-fearing nature.
Speaking to leaders from Owerri Zone at Government House on Wednesday, he stressed the need for a transparent and democratic process in choosing the next governor.
Uzodimma noted that while he introduced the Imo Charter of Equity to promote fairness in rotating power across the state’s three zones, it should serve only as a guide and not an automatic ticket to power.
He said …
“The Charter of Equity is not a slogan for confusion. It is a document to remind us of the imbalance in the system and see how best to correct it.
“But it must work hand in hand with democratic processes. You must join me now for us to cure this confusion.
“If we don’t, the man coming after me may not be as religious and God-fearing as I am.”
In other news.,.,… A heated discussion has erupted on social media after Nigerian singer Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, shared details of a puzzling experience he had with the late Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad.
According to a report by GistLover, Naira Marley revealed that during Mohbad’s lifetime, he frequently transferred money to a bank account belonging to the singer’s mother-in-law.
Recounting a particular incident on November 6, 2022, the Marlian Records boss explained that Mohbad once requested financial assistance for medical treatment. When he received the account details, the name reflected was Adesanya Justina Olajumoke. Initially, Naira Marley assumed it was Mohbad’s account but was later told it belonged to his mother-in-law.
Though aware it was his wife Wunmi’s mother’s account, Naira admitted he was unsettled by the arrangement but chose not to push further.
During a live discussion, several women criticized the move, questioning why Mohbad’s funds had to be routed through his in-law’s account when he had immediate family members who could assist.
One of them argued that Wunmi would never have allowed the late singer to receive payments through accounts provided by his own relatives. Others went further, suggesting that spiritual manipulation could have been at play, aligning with Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba’s, disapproval of his son’s in-laws.
“What if Naira Marley had refused to send money into his girlfriend’s mother’s account? They might still have been collecting money that way till today,” one woman remarked.
It will be recalled that after Mohbad’s passing, his father disclosed that the late artist purchased landed property through his mother-in-law.
