The question we are asking NUFC fans today – Newcastle United win the Carabao Cup but finish outside the Premier League top six, is it success or failure?

We are now three months into the 2025/26 season and very mixed results.

In the Premier League it is played 11, won 3, drawn 3, lost 5.

However, it has been smooth passage through to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals for a fourth season in a row, the last round seeing Spurs defeated to take Newcastle United into a last eight home tie with Fulham.

We also have of course the welcome distraction of the Champions League, Eddie Howe and his team picking up three wins in four games so far, putting themselves into a great position to reach the last 16 knockout stages.

However, we just wanted to concentrate here on the domestic side of things.
