Official Newcastle United injury update from Eddie Howe ahead of Leicester away on Monday night – 4 April 2025:
Alexander Isak – Felt his groin during the warm up before the Brentford match on Wednesday
Eddie Howe says it is a new knock and not linked to previous one. The NUFC boss says that they will know more today, but it is not a big injury. Howe says he is hoping Isak will be ok to play against Leicester.
Kieran Trippier – After having been subbed off late on against Brentford, Eddie Howe hoping he will be ok for Leicester. Again, doesn’t see it as a serious issue, just a niggle.
Joelinton – Needed treatment during the Brentford match but played on to the end. The knee issue not believed to be a problem and Eddie Howe expects Joelinton to train today.
With Thursday a rest day, Eddie Howe saying that today’s return to training will see all of this trio assessed, but he believes there aren’t any big new injury issues after Brentford, more a few knocks and niggles.
Anthony Gordon – Eddie Howe stating that the winger has huge bruising still on his leg and still not one hundred per cent pain free. Gordon having only training on his own so far, so now set to be assessed in these days ahead of the Leicester match.
I think for sure that this time, having the match moved to Monday, is a rare positive. Five days instead of three days between matches, could make a huge difference in terms of the physical state of Eddie Howe’s options for this next game.
