Nigerian rap superstar Olamide has been announced as the headliner for the Mainland Block Party’s New Year’s Day concert, “Mission 26K,” set to take place on January 1, 2026, in Lagos.
The event, which aims to host up to 30,000 attendees, is expected to be one of the biggest New Year celebrations in Africa. Mainland Block Party has built a strong reputation for delivering high-energy, youth-centered festivals, and its 2026 edition is shaping up to be no different.
“Mission 26K,” a name inspired by the event’s ambitious capacity target, will kick off the new year with a night of music and entertainment. Olamide, widely celebrated as one of Nigeria’s most influential artists, has earned a reputation for electrifying performances and a long list of chart-topping songs. His appearance is expected to draw thousands of fans eager to ring in the new year with a major cultural moment.
Although organizers have yet to release a final confirmation on the venue, the concert has traditionally been held at the Police College in Ikeja. The show is curated by The Plug, which has consistently used the Mainland Block Party to spotlight Afrobeats stars and emerging talent.
The announcement comes on the heels of Olamide’s ongoing global success, including his recent landmark sold-out show at London’s 12,500-capacity OVO Arena Wembley. His return to a major Lagos stage promises an unforgettable start to 2026 for music lovers across the city.
