Plus Mind recognizes on-screen content and extracts the info

OnePlus unveiled OxygenOS 16, a new software update for the company’s latest handsets and tablets.

OnePlus says that OxygenOS 16 features a new feature called Plus Mind, which can recognize on-screen content and organize it into a new area called Mind Space, serving as a unified hub for your captured data. Furthermore, Google’s Gemini can connect with Mind Space and retrieve the information you need in a single prompt.

Plus Mind can be activated with the Plus Key (a hardware button on some handsets like the OnePlus 13s that can also be configured for other functions) or a three-finger swipe up. Plus Mind will then understand the context of the content and extract information, like dates, and add it to your calendar. It also supports long screenshot capture. This seems like Nothing’s Essential Space and Essential Key, except it has Gemini connectivity, which I can see really filling out the feature.

Further, OxygenOS 16 is smoother with its Parallel Processing 2.0 technology and there’s even some cross-ecosystem connectivity. User interface-wise, there’s a new design language that further extends OxygenOS’ Gaussian blur effect, with rounded corners, and translucent Quick Settings, Home Screen, and App Drawer. Additionally, native apps have also been refined. OnePlus says that OxygenOS 16 now has a new feature called Private Cloud Computing, ensuring your data stays sensitive even in the cloud. This sounds a lot like Apple’s Private Cloud Compute feature.

The first phone to feature OxygenOS 16 will be the OnePlus 15. However, OxygenOS 16 is also coming to the company’s tablets. I’m looking forward to trying out  OxygenOS 16 and will share more about my thoughts on the new OS after I’ve reviewed the upcoming OnePlus 15.
