Photos from Diogo Jota and Brother André Silva’s Funeral Surface Online
Heartbreaking photos from the funeral of Liverpool star Diogo Jota and his younger brother, André Silva, have surfaced online.
The funeral took place on Saturday, July 5, at Igreja Matriz de Gondomar in Portugal, drawing a large crowd of mourners, including Liverpool players like Virgil van Dijk, Darwin Núñez, and Alexis Mac Allister, as well as Portuguese national stars like Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva.
Jota and Silva died in a car crash in Spain on July 3. The emotional ceremony saw Jota’s wife, Rute Cardoso, in tears, just two weeks after their wedding.
The brothers were laid to rest in their hometown, with the mayor declaring a day of mourning in their honour.
Prominent figures from the Portuguese national team, including Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, João Cancelo, and Ruben Neves, were also in attendance, underscoring the wide-reaching impact of Jota’s passing on the football world.
Jota’s wife, Rute Cardoso, was seen in tears as she left the funeral home, surrounded by family members. The couple had just married on June 22 and shared three young children, the youngest born just last year.
