Real Madrid have been dealt another defensive setback after Éder Militão picked up a fresh injury during Brazil’s recent international friendly against Tunisia.

The centre-back was forced off in the second half after feeling discomfort in his groin area, raising immediate concern given his long history with serious injuries especially for Real Madrid supporters.

After returning to Madrid, medical tests confirmed that Militão has suffered an adductor (groin) muscle injury. The club has ruled him out for at least two weeks, meaning he will miss several upcoming fixtures, including league and European matches.

“Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player Éder Militão, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to the adductor magnus in his right leg. Further updates will follow.”

However this injury is far less serious than the ACL problems that kept him out for over a year. The timing of the injury couldn’t be worse for Real Madrid as Militão had only recently regained full rhythm after two major knee surgeries, and his return was strengthening the team’s defensive stability.

Real Madrid supporters will hope the injury is not more than two weeks.
