The body of late former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has been brought back to the country.
Buhari, who died on July 13, 2025, in London at the age of 83, was transported to Nigeria on Tuesday, July 15.

A viral video captured the moment his remains were received at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport in Katsina. His body, wrapped in the national flag, was flown in aboard a Nigerian Air Force aircraft and received with full military honors.
Accompanying the late president’s remains were Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and close family members. At the airport, Governor Dikko Radda and other notable figures were present to receive the body.
The aircraft touched down at 1:59 p.m., and preparations are underway for a military farewell and Islamic funeral (Jana’iza) in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
Meanwhile, security presence has intensified in both Katsina and Daura, as thousands of Nigerians converge to bid their final farewell.
