One UI 7 brings a lot of changes to Galaxy devices, and some, which are a matter of preference, seemed to have been changed without the user’s permission. One significant change in Samsung’s One UI 7 is the separation of Quick Settings and the notification panel. Here’s how to change it back.
At this point, One UI 7 has been pushed to most Galaxy devices. That comes after a heavy delay pushed update timing back for several devices, including some of the newer ones. The rollout execution hasn’t been ideal, but the newest OS is now making its way to new and seasoned Galaxy phones.
By default, One UI 7 now chooses to display the Quick Settings page and notification panel in separate pages, accessible with a swipe across the drop-down menu. This is a change from Samsung’s One UI 6, where the Quick Settings options would be available above a section containing all notifications. This one-page approach means easier access.
The adjustment has likely taken users by surprise. It’s such a shift from the way Quick Settings were presented in previous versions of One UI.
There is an argument to be made about the separation of Quick Settings and notifications, since more tiles are available more immediately. In either case, it’s entirely a matter of preference. Changing the UI back to a combined Quick Settings and notification page is possible and easy to do through the drop-down panel settings.
Combining Quick Settings and notifications, again
To combine Quick Settings with notifications again, you’ll need to go through the UI settings rather than One UI 7’s settings. This can be done from the notification and Quick Settings shade.
On your One UI 7 Galaxy device, swipe down from the top of the display.
Tap the pencil icon to edit.
Hit Panel settings.
Choose Separate.
From now on, you won’t need to swipe between Quick Settings and your notifications. Both will be accessible from the same page.
This change represents what Samsung envisions One UI 7 to be, so it may not be available in future updates. Still, some UI settings have changed in past updates, and alternatives are still available.
