Samsung creates a custom ringtone for each generation of Galaxy flagships, and this year, the “Over the Horizon” tune received a jazzy overhaul.
The 2025 arrangement brings dynamic rhythms and soulful harmonies of big band jazz and was created by Los Angeles-based pianist and composer Jacob Mann. Check out the official video Samsung posted on YouTube:
The idea behind the jazz tune is to evoke “an ideal day and a hopeful future.” The vibrant tempo of big band jazz “weaves the journey of One UI into the passage of time and the rhythm of everyday life”, states Samsung.
The music begins with soft piano melodies of the morning and transitions to the vibrant energy of a night out in the city, added the composer. Samsung gave the artist the freedom to explore various instruments before sticking to the piano.
Traditionally, Over the Horizon gets a makeover of whatever is trendy, combined with a drop of domestic culture. Last year, the ringtone was inspired by traditional Korean music; in 2023, it was a product of Korean-born electronic artist Yaeji, while the 2022 edition was remixed by SUGA, a member of the wildly popular Korean boy band BTS.
