Massimiliano Allegri is expected to pick Luka Modric over Samuele Ricci against Cremonese, giving the ex-Real Madrid star his Serie A debut on Matchday 1.

It kicks off at 20:45 CET (19:45 BST) at the Stadio Meazza in San Siro, Milan.

Allegri said on Saturday that he didn’t know whether he’d start Modric, but according to Italian media, including Gazzetta and Sky Sport, a decision has now been taken as the Croatian star will feature in the Rossoneri XI, joining Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Youssouf Fofana in the middle of the park.

Another new signing, Pervis Estupinan, will start as a left-back, while the returnee Alexis Saelemaekers will be part of a three-man attack with Gimenez and Christian Pulisic.

New coach Davide Nicola is expected to pick a 3-5-2 formation with Milan loanees Filippo Terracciano starting in a three-man defence and Warrne Bondo picked in the middle of the park.

The game will be broadcast live on DAZN in the UK and Paramount+ in the USA.
