Vincent Luis has been forced to pull out of T100 London after aggravating an injury at Challenge Roth.

The two-time ITU World Triathlon Series champion finished fourth at Roth in July on what was his full-distance debut, despite not being able to train properly with a calf problem.

He was hoping to improve on his first two T100 events this year when he finished 14th in Singapore and 11th in San Francisco but will not now be competing in London on August 9-10.

“Sharp pain”

Posting on Instagram, Luis said: “I came into Challenge Roth with a month off running due to a tear in my left calf. Unfortunately after 5kms on the marathon I did feel a sharp pain.

“An ultrasound confirmed a tear in my soleus and another one in the aponeurosis. It was a slow come back to training but it was needed anyway after my first full distance. I will skip London T100 but the season is still long!”

Wilde set to boost London field

Hayden Wilde announced he intends to make a surprise injury comeback at London following a serious bike crash and a competitive field will still battle it out for glory.

Luis will now have to wait to make his own return from injury but as a T100 contracted athlete you can bet he will back on the Race to Qatar circuit some time soon.

He won his ITU World Triathlon series titles back in 2019 and 2020, and raced five WTCS events last year before winning Ironman 70.3 Bahrain in November.

But 2025 has been a year of change for the Frenchman, who bowed out of Olympic distance racing when he helped animate the WTCS Grand Final in Torremolinos last October.

The T100 series is now among his main goals, and after London there are four more races remaining before the World Championship Final in December.

In San Francisco he raced in a special San Francisco 49ers tri suit, complete with the team’s iconic golden shorts and helmet, and while he’s already won three times at middle-distance, this is the first year he hasn’t combined it with WTCS racing.
