Makhetse is convinced that her sister fought back against her attacker.

“The house was in disarray, with furniture overturned. My sister was strong and wouldn’t let anyone harm her without a fight. She lived alone and had never been attacked before. We want the person responsible to turn themselves in. I hope their conscience haunts them.

“The person stabbed my sister several times, but she’ll fight to bring the suspect to justice,” she added.

A daughter’s heartbreakMando Mthombeni has vowed not to forgive the person who took her mother’s life.

“My mother was strong, and we hoped to spend many more years together. The person who did this has deeply hurt us,” she said.

Gauteng poilce spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that a murder investigation is underway, although no arrests have been made yet.
