Lieutenant-Colonel Amanda Van Wyk, the police spokeswoman, said: “This man runs an international crime, and I believe he does not work alone, and the internet has no border. There is a huge problem, especially the people who create this content, that we need to arrest as well and save our children. For now, we only arrested one suspect, but we will continue with our investigations.”

Neighbors connect clues
Neighbor Ntsoaki Motloung said the man was her next-door neighbour before he moved to another block in the same estate.

Ntsoaki said she was not shocked because she always suspected something dodgy about him and his girlfriend.

“This man hardly went outside. He ordered food three times a day. His girlfriend used to go out with a huge bag and back later with the same bag. So I was wondering where she was going.

“I always wondered what they did for a living because they were always locked inside their house and owned three cars, but they were very young and not working. When he opened the door, I could see something mounted on the wall, which I don’t know what it was, and he had a regular guy who visited him and would park far, but he would go to him.”

Another neighbour, Mo Mokgatle, said: “I saw it on TV because I saw posts on our complex WhatsApp group. He never came outside. All I know is that this guy is living with his girlfriend. I feel very scared that we have been living with such a person.”

The suspect will appear in the Randburg Magistrates Court on Monday, 20 January.
