Telus now charges $5 to $10 more per month for wireless services
After ending some limited-time wireless offers earlier this week, Telus has reworked its plans again, raising prices by $5-$10 and cutting data buckets.
Telus’ latest wireless plans mostly fall in line with Rogers and Bell, though there are a few small differences related to the included perks. Check out Telus’ latest plans below:
$55/100GB 5G 1Gbps Canada-wide (BYOP) – previously $60/100GB.
$65/100GB 5G 1Gbps Canada-wide – previously $65/125GB.
$75/150GB 5G 1Gbps Canada/U.S. – previously $70/150GB.
$90/250GB 5G 2Gbps Canada/U.S./Mexico – previously $80/200GB.
Note that all the above prices include a $10/mo discount for using pre-authorized bank payments. Customers can also get 39 per cent off Telus’ Stream+ bundle for six months when they sign up for a wireless plan. Finally, customers can bundle wireless with home internet or multiple lines for additional savings.
But while Telus offers many ways to ‘save,’ it doesn’t seem like it after prices climbed yet again. The 100GB and 150GB plans now cost $5/mo more, while the $65/mo plan lost 25GB of data. Telus increased the cost of its Canada/U.S./Mexico plan by $10/mo, but it did toss in an extra 50GB of data, which I guess is nice. But if you’ve already got 200GB, do you really need another 50?
Overall, these changes are pretty disappointing. It was nice that Telus briefly had cheaper options than Bell or Rogers, but now we’re back to looking elsewhere for deals. Once again, I’ll point to providers like Freedom Mobile and Public Mobile, who both offer $35/60GB 5G plans with Canada/U.S./Mexico roaming, among other options.
