The Texas women’s basketball team hasn’t been to the Final Four since 2003. In that season, as the No. 5 seed, they lost to the No. 1-seeded UConn Huskies and legendary head coach Geno Auriemma.

Uconn went on to win the NCAA Championship over Tennessee, but the Lady Longhorns were so close.

Close doesn’t count in March Madness, but Texas is one step closer to redeeming that loss to UConn from the 2002-03 season after beating TCU 58-47 in the Elite Eight on Monday.

Sophomore forward Madison Booker led the way for the Longhorns with 18 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Senior guard Rori Harmon pitched in with 13 points, five assists and two steals, while junior forward Kyla Oldacre came off the bench for nine points and five rebounds.

This now sets up a No. 1 versus No. 1 matchup with the defending champion South Carolina Gamecocks on Friday, April 4.
