Now that Samsung’s $400 Galaxy A36 supports faster 45W charging, do you think the company’s most expensive model will get a similar upgrade? If you know Samsung well, the answer to that should be clear.

China’s 3C certified the SM-F7660 and the SM-F9660 – that would be the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Fold7 – and both support 9V, 2.77A charging. Doing the math that works out to the expected 25W.

The certification notes that both are sold without chargers, but also notes the compatibility with Samsung’s EP-TA800. This is a vintage model at this point, hailing from the Galaxy S10 era.

This isn’t too much of a surprise as the Galaxy Z Fold7 is expected to have the same battery capacity as the 2024 model, i.e. 4,400mAh. The Z Flip7 is getting a small bump with two cells totaling 4,174mAh (up from 4,000mAh on the Z Flip6).

Anything below 4,500mAh (S22+’s capacity) is not getting 45W charging, it seems and Samsung is slow in adopting Silicon-Carbon tech, which offers higher capacity at the same battery volume.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Fold7 will likely be unveiled in July. As for the Galaxy Z Flip FE, that might have to wait for the Exynos 2500 chipset to become available.
