Nigerian singer and songwriter, Spyro, has called on influential Nigerians to use their platforms to speak up during what he described as a defining moment in the nation’s history.
His appeal follows recent remarks by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who reportedly categorized Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” due to alleged attacks on Christians by Islamist extremists. Trump also warned that the United States might intervene militarily if the violence continued.
Taking to his Instagram page, the Who Is Your Guy crooner expressed deep concern over the country’s growing instability and the rising fear among citizens. Spyro warned that silence from prominent voices, especially Nigerians, celebrities, religious leaders, and public figures, could make the situation worse.
“This is a very critical moment in this country, and it’s not a time for anyone with a platform to keep quiet. War in a country threatens everyone,” Spyro stated.
He urged celebrities, pastors, imams, content creators, and business leaders to speak up and demand accountability from the government, emphasizing that crisis spares no one, regardless of wealth or social status.
Spyro further noted that influence only holds value when peace and stability exist. He stressed that the entertainment and creative industries thrive only in a peaceful environment, warning that any outbreak of violence would render fame and influence meaningless.
“No one is coming to save us; they are only coming to kill, steal, and destroy,” he cautioned. “If something happens, nobody will have time to listen to music, watch movies, or attend religious gatherings.”
The singer’s message has since resonated with many Nigerians, as tensions continue to rise amid political uncertainty and worsening insecurity across the country.
