Tyson Fury suffers another defeat in the hands of Oleksandr Usyk

Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk continued his unbeaten run in the boxing ring as he defeated the British boxer Tyson Fury in a unanimous decision.

The victory for Oleksandr Usyk ensured that he retained his unified heavyweight world titles in what was another close points win in their rematch in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, December 22, 2024. The last time both boxers went head to head in a boxing ring was in May 2024 with Usyk emerging victorious by a spilt decision .

Fury dominated the first part of the fight, but he was unable to land his punches on Usyk as both boxers were determined to end the year on a high. Usyk, who recently won an Olympic gold and former undisputed cruiserweight champion, extended his undefeated record in professional boxing to 23.

Usyk extended his gratitude to Fury for always pushing him to be a better boxer.

He said,

“He [Tyson Fury] is a great fighter. He is a great opponent. An unbelievable 24 rounds for my career. Thank you so much.”

All three judges scored it 116-112 to the 37-year-old Ukraine international. The two defeats against Usyk are the first time that Fury has ever lost a boxing match in his professional career.
