U Mobile has wasted no time in deploying its ULTRA5G network after announcing to the media last month, as the nation’s second 5G network, the orange telco has already achieved 54.9% coverage in the nation as revealed by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
This is no easy feat considering the size of the telco and the fact that it was awarded the license to operate the nation’s second 5G network early this year. As a comparison, it took Digital Nasional Berhad, the nation’s first 5G network to achieve 50% coverage over a year, and it recently announced the deployment of its 5G SA network with Yes.

According to Fahmi, U Mobile’s ULTRA5G network has the highest availability in Putrajaya (99.7%), Kuala Lumpur (90.9%), Labuan (90.8%), Pulau Pinang (82.3%) and Selangor (70.9%).
Ever since it was awarded to operate the second 5G network, U Mobile has initially enabled 5G SA for its flagship postpaid plans and support for limited number of Android devices, the company then proceeds to rebrand its 5G SA network as ULTRA5G in August 2025, with an emphasis in improving in-building 5G coverage and its homeland Berjaya Times Square became the first site to be deployed.
U Mobile ULTRA5G is currently supported on most 5G capable Android phones and iOS devices, available to all prepaid and postpaid users, it has the most comprehensive support as compared to the recently announced Yes 5G Advanced network, which only supports certain 5G Android smartphones and its Infinite Postpaid plans, though on the bright side it has uncapped speeds and quota.
