The wait is now over as the UEFA Champions League 2025/26 is ready to kick off in grand style, as this season continues with the league format in the first round of fixtures.
Ahead of the 2024/25 season UEFA introduced a 36-team league phase, where every club will play eight matches against eight different opponents four at home and four away. This format will see the first eight teams book automatic qualification while teans from 9th to 24th will face each other in a two legged knock out games against
the group winners and runners-up used in the past.
How does the UEFA Champions League draw work?The draw involves four seeded pots based on UEFA coefficients. Clubs are drawn from Pot 1 through Pot 4, and automated software assigns eight unique opponents for each team. Importantly. No club can face another from the same country, teams can only face a maximum of two clubs from the same association.
