Manchester United have made additions in the forward line this summer, but their focus reportedly changes after signing striker Benjamin Sesko.
Manchester United’s transfer policy has shifted to focus on outgoings after the addition of Benjamin Sesko, the latest report has claimed.
The Red Devils’ have managed to make a number of changes to their attacking options, signing Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this summer.
Manager Ruben Amorim was forced to work with the squad he inherited from previous boss Erik ten Hag, but after spending nearly £200m this window, he has finally begun to shape his team in his image.
Amorim’s side have been linked with more additions, including Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba, but it remains to be seen if they can afford to sign him without exits.
The Standard claim that United will look to move on attackers Rasmus Hojlund, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony this summer before making further signings.
Hojlund has most recently been linked with a move to AC Milan, though any deal would be a temporary one, while the striker is reportedly still determined to fight for his place in the XI.
Sancho has been on loan at both Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund in the past two seasons, and the latter are said to hold an interest in his signature.
As for Antony, La Liga club Real Betis are said to be keen on signing the Brazilian after he enjoyed a successful loan spell with them in 2024-25, but they may not be able to pay United a significant fee.
Garnacho could bring in the most revenue considering he is reportedly admired by the likes of Chelsea, who have a long history of stockpiling young players, so perhaps they will look to bring the Argentine to Stamford Bridge.
What can Amorim’s squad achieve in the Premier League? With United still in the market for additions, it is clear that Amorim believes that his squad could be improved further.
However, Mbeumo and Cunha directly contributed to 48 goals in the Premier League last season, and the duo were among the division’s best forwards last term.
Sesko is yet to test himself in England, and while he could experience teething issues at Old Trafford, the Red Devils’ forward line should still be expected to function well together given their attacking qualities.
If the trio struggle to settle at United, then questions may have to be asked of Amorim, especially if the club fail to compete for the Premier League’s European spots.
