Odd that Xiaomi didn’t wait until the release of the Dimensity 9500

Xiaomi has announced its 15T series, which includes the Xiaomi 15T and 15T Pro. The 15T Pro features 6.83-inch AMOLED display with an 1280 x 2772-pixel resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate, and up to 3200 nits of brightness.

This handset uses the Mediatek Dimensity 9400+ 3nm process, with 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It’s odd that Xiaomi is releasing the handsets with Dimensity 9400 series processors, a few days after Mediatek announced the Dimensity 9500 chips. While the Xiaomi 15T Pro is a flagship product, it will soon be outdated once devices start coming out with the Dimensity 9500 in the next couple of months.

Additionally, there’s a triple camera setup with two 50-megapixel shooters (the primary, and a 5x optical zoom periscope camera) alongside a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera. Xiaomi says that the 15T Pro’s telephoto is capable of “10x optical-level zoom,” which is a bit unclear since the device only actually has a 5x optical lens. Further, the phone has 20x Ultra Zoom, but this is also a little confusing as it’s unclear if this is purely digital zoom, a combination of digital and hardware, or if AI is included.

There’s also a 32-megapixel selfie camera capable of 4K @30fps videos. While the main camera can produce 4K @120fps videos, and you can shoot in 4K @60fps 10-bit Log as well.

Further, the handset has a 5,500mAh battery with 90W wired charging and 50W wireless. Xiaomi says that when your handset is dead, you can power it up under four seconds after you’ve connected it to a charger.

Xiaomi has also bright its 3D IceLoop System to the Xiaomi 15T series, which separates vapour and liquid. This helps direct heat away from the heat producing components like the SoC. The Xiaomi 15T Pro is also has a IP68 water and dust resistance alongside, Corning Gorilla Glass 7i display, which provides 100 per cent improved scratch resistance. The handset comes in Black, Gray and Mocha Gold.

The Xiaomi 15T, on the other hand, sports the same display, 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, a Mediatek Dimensity 8400 Ultra process, and a triple camera setup. There’s a 50-megapixel primary sensor, 50-megapixel telephoto with a 2x optical zoom and 12-megapixel ultrawide.

Additionally, it sports a 5,500mAh battery, 67W wired charging, and comes in Black, Gray and Rose Gold.
