Xiaomi said on Tuesday it was cooperating with authorities after two of its vehicles were involved in separate fire incidents in southern and central China, adding that battery systems were operating normally before the vehicles went offline. No injuries were reported. The first incident occurred at around 5 p.m. in Haikou, Hainan province, where a Xiaomi vehicle parked in an auto repair shop caught fire and was extinguished by firefighters, the company said. Earlier the same day, a Xiaomi YU7 was involved in a collision on the Lannan Expressway in Kaifeng, Henan province, and later caught fire. All occupants evacuated safely. Xiaomi said both the power and auxiliary batteries were operating normally prior to the incidents and that investigations are ongoing. [Jiemian, in Chinese]
